Industrial Engineer

The incumbent applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles, theories, and concepts applicable to his/her area of responsibility, as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to solve complex problems and to develop improved technical processes for the organization. In this role, the incumbent serves as a lead engineer for the system oversight division applying broad technical and team skills to lead design and manufacturing system oversight activities by applying systems thinking principles. As a lead engineer, the incumbent may oversee and coordinate efforts of other engineering and quality staff, including both internal and external stakeholders.As an Industrial Engineer, the incumbent oversees requirements definition of specific processes based on application of basic engineering principles, theories and techniques; designs or selects system elements to meet system requirements and, evaluates merits of system design with engineers and manufacturing technicians skilled in core disciplines. As a lead engineer, the incumbent provides directions and guidance in the form of clear objectives, alternative approaches and solutions to engineering and manufacturing personnel, both within the FAA and within the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) and manufacturing quality organizations. Goals and objectives are developed collaboratively across system interface points and with respective stakeholders. Defines, organizes, and assigns resources to accomplish organizational objectives. Allocates resources to accomplish large work activities within established schedules. Plans and meets both program milestones and commitments.The incumbent possesses strong communication skills to inform and influence support personnel, peers, and executives across highly complex organizational systems by using charts, diagrams and reports to express progress measured against specific plans. The incumbent builds risk management into system definition and implementation with respect to FAA involvement in all areas of the aviation industry, regulatory requirements, and procedural standards or agreements.Broad policies and objectives provide general guidance for addressing issues, but allow considerable discretion to develop new and innovative approaches. Provides policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally. Provides guidance to lower-level staff to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or other experienced engineer. Works with senior management to solve problems.The incumbent performs work activities with minimal direction of a manager. The work is reviewed rarely, typically through status reports and at project completion, to ensure technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity. The project/program typically impact directly on the objectives of one or more major subdivisions, LOB's/SO's and may impact on the objectives of the FAA. Applicants must show completion of a four year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering. This curriculum must:
(1) be in a school of engineering with at least 1 curriculum accredited by the ABET as a professional engineering curriculum; OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses in 5 of the following areas of engineering science or physics:
(a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics;ORa combination of Education and Experience that furnished (1) knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) understanding of the engineering sciences and techniques demonstrated by 1 of the following:
Current registration as a professional engineer; OREvidence of having successfully passed the EIT; ORSuccessful completion of 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements; ORSuccessful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or appropriate professional field, provided the applicant had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.In addition to the Basic Requirementsto qualify for this position at the FV-I, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience may include, but are not limited to:
experience establishing, monitoring, and improving organizational system such as quality management or safety management systems. Experience providing professional industrial engineering support to improve processes, experience researching, developing, and applying modeling and statistical techniques or numerical analysis for operational use, experience using quantitative techniques to solve problems.To qualify for this position at the FV-J, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience may include, but are not limited to:
Experience with utilizing tools to improve a process i.e. DMAIC process, LEAN and Six Sigma, experience with improving transactional and manufacturing processes, experience researching, developing, and applying modeling and statistical techniques or numerical analysis for operational use.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
