The Mortgage Loan Consultant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing, underwriting and closing of a loan file. They maintain effective communication with the member to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing the closing of the member's mortgage. The MLC is responsible for computer set up and validation of data. They are responsible for collection and evaluation of all documented information required. They review Automated Underwriting system conditions ensuring that the loan meets the eligibility and underwriting guidelines and all conditions for closing are met. In addition this person is responsible for reviewing the appraisal of the property, the title report and the flood certification. This person will prepare all required closing documents, and coordinate with outside escrow to schedule closing.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Proficient math skills, with a high degree of accuracy.
2. Ability to manually prepare closing papers, including the preparation of Reg.-Z Truth in Lending statement.
3. Excellent organizational skills.
4. Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgement.
5. Excellent oral and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
6. Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgement in problem solving.
7. Ability to adapt to changes within working responsibilities regardless of whether the change is driven internally or by market or regulatory changes.
8. Good interpersonal skills to ensure issues are handled in a fair and consistent manner.
9. Proficient PC skills (including mortgage software), with the ability to learn new software.
10. Ability to perform in a multi-tasked environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
11. Ability to work within stringent time constraints, under pressure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
2. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
3. Sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate a variety of standard office equipment.
4. Vision (or corrected) to normal range.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. B.A. or B. S. degree in business or equivalent work or educational experience.
2. Successful completion of courses or seminars relating to mortgage banking processing and underwriting, and escrow. Successful completion of courses required to maintain the LPO designation preferred
3. Minimum 2 year's experience as a mortgage loan processor, closer or underwriter with an emphasis on conventional loan products.
4. Comply with SAFE Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
